So the Burgerville show was off the hook, we played ok but sounded great! There we a lot of people there to see us and to see the other bands. I'm really excited about the friends of mine that did make it out and I know now who matters. I'm still really disappointed in my old "friends" who didn't show up, but at this moment i'm content with leaving it at that.
I also made a call about the band that did not get to play and found out that they are not upset with me our our band, so i don't have to worry about that any more. It's crazy how much things get to your head some times and that talking to people makes it better. I'm really lucky to have that with my wife.
So back to burgerville, today we had a practice a 2pm to get our shit together for the show later. We jammed last Friday and came up with a set of stuff we wanted to do for our show today. We started with a heavy stoned out noiser jam that was pretty wild and fun this song featured Jose making feed back loops and eventually playing drums standing with the bass drum on its side. Travis rocked his crazy "joy division" guitar and his crazy moog, this made for excellent moog jams and hot guitar solos! Luke rocked his same set up but with an extra sampler and it was so good!!!! I rocked some vocals with with a wah peddle and my dl4 digital peddle and eventually rocked the bass guitar by the end of my set. So the noise set went into the surf punk jam and i sang some cramps style vocals with lots of fx's which was a lot of fun! After that song it got crazy as we tried to do a hip hop part that seems to only work when I'm drunk and we are not so loud.
At the end of our attempted at a hip hop jam we stopped abruptly and the crowd went wild to my surprise after that we went into a set of our standards were i pay bass and do some vocals it was rocked. Travis also brought out his guitar for these songs and it brought a whole different element the songs that we have been playing since we started this band. I should mention befor the end of reviewing my own band is that we decided that it would be awesome to have two Star Wars movies playing at the same time, A New Hope, and Empire Strikes Back, the best part of having these two fine movies playing at the same time was that be for we went on I let them play at top volume. I feel like the audience really liked this but it was really hard to hear both TVs except when there would be lasers blasting, r2dt, Chewbaca, and sometimes some winy Luke!
After we finished playing a lot of people came up and were really happy with what they heard. The members of Eternal Tapestry really enjoyed it and told us a few times. Jeffery J was also really into it which made me really happy cause I was really excited to see them play. As soon as we got out of the way E Tap set up, with two SG gibsons, pedals, and sweet amps. They are also rolling with a bass player and sax man who filled it in really well. The drummer of the band is amazing as well, you always know a good drummer when they know how to hold back and not get to fancy right away, a good drummer and make really simple sound really good and complement the melo drone of the 4 dudes standing there making sweet love with the air between them and the crowd of people looking on wile the set a mood that you know will end up rocking your socks off and it did!
I have yet to have the chance to really enjoy the mighty soundz of Jeffery Jerusalem until tonight. JJ did the honers of play last, this is a spot that could be good and bad at times, today i felt like it didn't work out for him, there were a lot of people who left after seeing E Tap, the rumor was that they had to get home for LOST, how funny is that, but man did they miss a good set. I'm glad i finally got to see him in a well lit room, every other chance has been in a house were i could not even see what he was doing or make it through the hoards of what i think a college freshmen to even be able to enjoy what i saw tonight. Pure excellence! JJ does what i'd call electro pop music, that may sound cheesy but he didn't. The thing i liked the best was his performance aspect, I could believe that it would be hard to stand on stage alone and sing with beats going off behind you, but that was not his style, Jeff plyed the keys and percussion to most of the songs that he played tonight and also had some slight crafty dance parts going on.
All and all, i feel really good about this show. I wish that i was not the only one reviwing it cause i'm sure there would be others who could write it up way better than this. If i ever had a dream show come true this one was it! thanks to all who came, and the staff that worked that night!
